Continuum of Care
Care Beyond Our Doors
At Rivendell of Arkansas, we seek to offer hope, change lives, and preserve families. That requires us to make sure our patients and their families are getting the care, service, and education they need to heal while staying in our facility, and the tools to continue their growth and recovery once the patient is back in the community.
Individualized Therapy Modalities
Each patient at Rivendell receives a personalized treatment plan to help get to the root causes of their emotional and mental distress. Throughout their care, our staff utilizes various treatment modalities to help patients begin the healing process, including:
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), designed to help patients address and cope with immediate life stressors in the moment
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps to change unhelpful cognitive distortions (e.g., thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes) to improve emotional regulation and develop coping strategies
- Substance Abuse Groups, like Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous (AA / NA) to educate patients on abuse cycles, how to break those cycles, and create communities to build support
- Other specialized groups, which focus on mindfulness, relaxation, guided meditation, crisis management, pain management, and distress tolerance.
Trauma-Informed Approach
Our caregivers are trained to take a trauma-informed approach to care. This is a framework for providing quality, clinical care to survivors of various forms of trauma that involves understanding, recognizing and responding to the various effects that trauma can have on us as individuals and as a society. It emphasizes safety and operates on the notion that healing happens through safe and collaborative relationships.

Keeping Families Together
Family involvement is a vital component of treatment. We encourage family and friends to participate in individual and group therapy, as necessary, to educate them on the dynamics of a patient’s mental issues and teach the skills to build healthy communication and conflict resolution strategies.
Discharge Planning
Our treatment team works closely with our patients and their family (or referring professional) to develop an appropriate discharge and continuing care plan that set up patients for success as they continue their recovery journey. The continuing care plan may include a referral to a continuing care group, community-based support group, recovery residence or outpatient therapy.
